We embarked on a trip to Santa Fe, NM in spring of 2016. New destination for us. Excited to visit Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Bandelier National Monument, Taos and all the stops along the way.

First stop was in Salina, KS. We stopped at the Zoo, owned and run by our friends, the Tuttle's. Ruben seemed to enjoy all of the animals. Rhinoceros was his favorite.
Next stop was in Dodge City, KS. Yes where Clark took his Griswold family. We able to visit the old town main strip and have lunch at a little Italian restaurant. (Did not really see any Italians in Dodge City.)
We also took a lunch stop in Eklund, NM. Historic hotel with a great New Mexican restaurant inside. This was our first meal and adventure into the world of New Mexico an its love of spices and peppers.
Once in Santa Fe, we explored many of the churches, downtown area, Georgia O'Keefe museum and Ruben had his Lebowski look going. We also made a stop at the Tune-Up Cafe feature on Diners, Dive-In's and Dives. It was good! Great coffee.
We took day trips to Bandelier National Monument. George had a little trouble with the hiking, but Regan made it all the way to the top. It is a great stopping point if you enjoy outdoor monuments.
Another day trip took us to Los Alamos. Interesting city. Felt as though we were being watched the entire time. It is, after all, the most secretive and nuclear research laden city in the world.
In Taos we also stopped at the Kit Carson Museum to visit Regan's distant relative from he father's side.
"Christopher Houston "Kit" Carson (December 24, 1809 – May 23, 1868) was an American frontiersman. The few paying jobs he had during his lifetime included mountain man (fur trapper), wilderness guide, Indian agent, and American Army officer. Carson became a frontier legend in his own lifetime via biographies and news articles. Exaggerated versions of his exploits were the subject of dime novels." (Wikipedia)
